I left Macys to become the HR Manager for Ur-Energy in Littleton, CO. I saw an opportunity to advance my professional career in the aspects I enjoyed most about being a General Manager – HR Management.
My success at The Bon Marche’/Macys was the result of my strengths in communications, employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, and training & coaching. I wanted to expand my HR knowledge and skills as I seemed to have a natural affinity towards it.
My 22 years of practical and effective business experience at The Bon Marche’/Macys gives me the ability to be a true business partner with managers and executives.
In my time at Ur-Energy, I was promoted twice, first to Director, HR, IR/PR, then to Senior Director, HR, IR/PR, Administration.
Ur-Energy was a start-up so I had to build the HR function from the ground up. Highlights from this are the design and launch of an effective and sophisticated performance management system, the design and implementation of the recruiting and hiring strategy for the new mine, and, ultimately, building a department that was a key contributor to the success of the company becoming the lowest cost uranium producer in the world.
When I look back on my time with Ur-Energy, I’m very proud of the fact that I was able to successfully transition smoothly from retail to mining. I learned how to work effectively in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, start-up environment and I became much more skilled at developing effective and strong professional relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, from line employees to engineers and technical employees, to senior management.
After Ur-Energy, I went to work for Mountain States Employer’s Council in Denver, CO as a Consultant, HR Professional Staffing and Career Transition. My member clients included the following:
